Mussels fry / Kallummakkaya fry

Ingredients

  1. Mussels (Kallummakkaya) – 30 nos (Large size)
  2. Red chili powder – 2 Tbsp
  3. Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  4. Curry leaves – few
  5. Oil – 4 Tbsp

Preparation

  1. Wash Mussels in fresh water and boil for 8 minutes. No need to add water as water comes out from mussels while boiling.
  2. Remove mussels from the shell and clean the black part on top it by cutting or squeezing the dirt out.
  3. Clean mussels with leftover water from boiling and save 2 cups of water for mixing spice powders.
  4. Mix all spice powders with mussels in 2 cups of water.
  5. Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pan and add this. Let this cook over medium flame for 15 minutes.
  6. Heat 2 Tbsp oil in another pan and transfer these mussels to that Pan. Fry until it becomes dry.
  7. Serve with steamed rice or chapati.
